TikTok user @funkopotamuswes has posted the above video showcasing himself playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe while also playing the game’s music on a keyboard. According to Wes the way he performs is by placing a Joy-Con on his head that he uses to steer the kart via motion controls and another at his feet which he uses to press buttons, leaving his two hands free to tickle the ivories!
If you want a more, in-depth explanation you can check out his video on the subject down below.
That’s not all though Mario fans, Wes also has a similar method he uses to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii and his keyboard at the same time! You can check that out below as well.
Playing games and a musical instrument are both skills that some people might have difficulty mastering so it’s incredibly impressive that someone was able to combine their skills. It’s a testament to how dedicated some fans are for their favorite games no matter how many years pass.
I think I speak for all of us when I say, play on Wes!

RUMOR: Mario and Sonic Olympics series may be finished (UPDATE)
The Crossover Concludes?
A recent Reddit post has pointed out the above Twitter/X Post from Lee Cocker, who worked with the Olympic Committee on the games’ various video game tie-ins, most notably the Mario and Sonic series.
In the post, Cocker makes the bold claim that there won’t be a Mario and Sonic at the Paris 2024 Olympic games as the series actually ended with Tokyo 2020. A quick perusal of Cocker’s personal website, as well as his own tweets, reveals that he was involved in the release of every Mario and Sonic title to date. If anyone would know if a new game is in the works or not, it seems safe to assume it’d be him.
Of course, there is always the distinct possibility that the game hasn’t been announced yet and Cocker was just not in the know so take this, like all rumors, with a grain of salt. However, given the fact that the Olympics are currently underway and no announcement has been made by either Nintendo or SEGA (The games typically released before the actual games began) it certainly seems possible that it might be the end for one of gaming’s strangest crossovers.
As always, we’ll keep you posted on any updates on the series’ future, positive or negative.
UPDATE: Lee Cocker has now shed some more light on the situation. Speaking with Eurogamer, he explains that the International Olympics Committee are the ones who chose to terminate their partnership with Nintendo to produce more Mario and Sonic Olympic games. According to Cocker, their decision had to do with a pivot to NFTs and esports. Read his full statement below:
“They wanted to look at other partners and NFTs and esports. Basically the IOC wanted to bring [it] back to themselves internally and look at other partners so they would get more money.”
The Olympics has indeed branched out into the world of NFTs, so it seems likely that there’s some truth to this statement. Whether or not this shift to NFTs and esports over traditional video games will work out for the Olympics Committee is another story. Maybe if things don’t go as planned, there’s a chance for Mario and Sonic to return to their rightful place as Olympic competitors in the future…

It’s Monster Hunter’s 20th Anniversary and Capcom have announced some new merch that fans will want to hunt down. The first is the above plushies based on the series’ beloved palico. These “surreal” figures stand 60 cm ( or about 24 inches) tall and come in a cream and grey colors.
These plushies will be available in Capcom-operated arcades in Japan starting July 27th, meaning you’ll probably have to do some importing if you want to add these furry friends to your collection.
That’s not all however as Capcom have announced the reintroduction of the Monster Hunter healing potions.
As you can see above, these are collectible bottles made to resemble the recovery potions used in game. The bottles are heat and cold resistant and can hold a capacity of 500 ml (about 17 ounces). Similarly to the plushies, these bottle will only be available in Capcom amusement stores in late July.
We will keep you posted on if any new Monster Hunter Merch is announced or if Capcom intends to bring these items to the west.
Dead by Daylight Cross-Progression now live
Survive Together
Dead by Daylight has announced that cross-progression for the game is now live. By linking a BHVR account players can now transfer their rewards and DLC across platforms, the team has also shared a handy how-to guide and FAQ to answer all your burning questions.
The team have also shared a handy graphic detailing what specific content can be shared across each platform that you can see below.
As you can see, the Nintendo Switch version has some restrictions on cross-progression that other platforms do not have. Below is snippets of the aforementioned FAQ that explain what some of the Switch’s restrictions are.
I have Dead by Daylight on Nintendo Switch, can I share progression and DLCs on other platforms now?
Cross-Progression for the Nintendo Switch will function slightly differently than across other platforms in the following ways:
- Purchased Auric Cells are not able to be shared
- Purchased DLC can be shared from other Platforms to the Nintendo Switch, but players cannot share from the Switch to other Platforms.
My accounts have different amounts of in-game currencies, what is going to happen to them?
Once your account(s) are synced, you will get a new wallet, which will store an accumulated total of all the Auric Cells you own on your account(s) except for Nintendo Switch. You will be able to access this shared wallet on any of the Cross-Progression enabled platforms you play on.
For Nintendo Switch, Auric Cells will stay with the platform account and cannot be shared.
However, Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, and Rift Fragments will be accumulated and shared across all platforms.
If the accumulated total of Bloodpoints exceeds the maximum amount of 2,000,000, you will not be able to earn them from trials, Daily Challenges, and Archives.
Why am I unable to sync one of my platforms?
We highly recommend players boot the game on the latest version before enabling Cross-Progression, in order to facilitate the syncing process.
Please note: This is a mandatory requirement for players on Nintendo Switch. The game will need to be updated and launched before you can begin setting up Cross-Progression on your account.
Once again, the above answers are only in relation to the Nintendo Switch version of the game. If you have more general questions about Dead by Daylight’s cross-progression update we highly suggest referring to the FAQ as linked above.
