Nintendo has been saying that they want to expand into China, and they’ve slowly-but-surely been doing that. Nintendo has actually achieved a major milestone with their game releases in China just this month, as one very important title has just launched for Switch.

While the rest of the world got it years ago, New Pokémon Snap is now available for the Switch in China. What makes the release of New Pokémon Snap such a big deal? Well, believe it or not, this is the first Pokémon game to launch in China since the country’s console ban was put in place back in 2000!

New Pokémon Snap may be the first officially-released Pokémon title in China since 2000, but it’s not the last. A slate of Switch titles is on the way to China in the coming months, and the breakdown is as follows:

  • Super Mario 3D World + Browser’s Fury
  • Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu
  • Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising
  • Above Qimen
  • Samurai Shodown
