The story of Everybody 1-2-Switch! has been a wild one right from the get-go. We first learned of the game through a leak that detailed not just the game’s content, but also the concern from Nintendo that the project wasn’t up to snuff, and the lackluster response from playtesters. That was eventually followed up by an official reveal of the game, which was mere weeks before its launch.

While we don’t have the exact sales figures, it’s safe to say that Everybody 1-2-Switch! didn’t exactly become a hit for the Big N. Sure, it sold a few hundred thousand units, but it pales in comparison to Nintendo’s other multi-million selling hits on the platform. Nintendo most likely wants to move on from the experiment and leave this one to history, but apparently gamers in Australia feel quite different.

The latest weekly sales charts for Australia have come in, and believe it or not, Everybody 1-2-Switch! has taken the #1 position on the sales charts. You might think this has something to do with a big sale at various Aussie retailers, but there seems to be zero evidence of such a sale taking place. Obviously something spurred on these massive sales, but the details on that remain a mystery for now.

You can see the Aussie sales chart July 22nd to 28th, 2024 below, which also show a return to the charts for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. Just like Everybody 1-2-Switch!, we have no clue what brought Advance Wars back to the top 10.

It seems to be a significant upgrade over the first from what little I've seen of it. Like, it's more along the lines of one of the Jackbox games.

All due to the dorkus malorkus bow tie man, no doubt.

Perhaps people wanted to have an Olympics-esque tournament with friends.

@totodile

Maybe! My office building set up a little Switch Sports station in the lobby for the Olympics.
